Causes of World War One
- Triple Alliance: Germany, Austria/Hungary, Italy, Turkey
- Triple Entente: Great Britain, France, Russia
- Assassination of the Austrian/ Hungarian prince by a Serbian terrorist Gavrilo Princip.
- Militarism: valuing a strong military and building it up, so if one country gets more weapons another country has to buy even more
- Imperialism: the time leading up to World War One was called the age of imperialism, countries competed with each other to expand their empires, because they were jealous of all the advancements they got from taking over other places. It also provided resources and an army/military to fight in the war from the imperialism that occurred over those nations.
- Nationalism: each country that was involved in the war thought they were the best country, they advertised their countries using propaganda posters that displayed their country beating other countries
- Industrial Revolution: the Industrial Revolution's technology was applied to the war, weapons were made more deadly, and were made in greater numbers because of the assembly line
- The Industrial Revolution caused imperialism and militarism because there was a need for natural resources which led them to want to take over other countries so they needed to upgrade their amount of soldiers and weapons. Then imperialism caused nationalism because they thought they were better than everyone else because they were industrialized.
- Hidden Alliances: other people did not know about the hidden alliances, and if they did they would not rage war on these other countries
